It appears I haven't blogged for a few weeks so thought I had best get to it.
The latest update from Colebrook Manor is the opening of the first finished section of the newly renovated rooms. We have four modernised rooms available and I am pleased to say one is now permanently occupied, the reports so far is the new resident and family are very happy here with the whole package that is offered at Colebrook Manor.
The newly structured menu and class of food continues to be a success with our residents, and they are still continuing to have gourmet style meals freshly prepared in house. In order to ensure that we remain resident focused we recently completed a resident questionnaire to gather information about their favourite meals, this was to make sure we were not missing anything of the menu that the residents particularly wanted.
The residents were asked to tell us their favourite meals, whatever it is they really liked, out of the 21 actual residents that were staying in the home during the questionnaire period 20 of them chose a roast dinner and one selected pasty and chips. As with traditional British culture we currently have a roast dinner Sunday lunch each week and that is something that will remain the same, if a resident particularly wants something that is not on the daily menu then it can be requested in advance to the kitchen and the chefs will do their best to accommodate.
As of this week our brochures are now available and alongside the website gives information about the home to prospective admissions, they look professional and I am very pleased with them.
Since my last blog I have continued to research into the services required in Plymouth and have now started to market us further afield than just our city. It appears that there is a need for complex nursing care and it is an avenue that we as a home are looking further into, we now have a steady stream of returning clients coming for short stay periods I believe this is down to the fantastic staff team here at Colebrook Manor who are providing these clients with a positive place to stay.
The final new point to note is that our day club centre launched this week, this is a service that provides various packages and is designed for the community to provide a fun active place to visit, spend time and hopefully make friends. Donna is the day club centre manager and will be able to give anyone full details of the services available.
We hope here that the sunshine remains as long as possible, and helps keeps the positive attitudes alive and kicking.
Bye for now

The latest changes
COLEBROOK MANOR
Since my last blog there have been a few changes here. Most significantly of which is that we are now officially registered as Colebrook Manor and are no longer called Revelstoke Lodge. This name change is the beginnings of the homes exciting future.
Alongside the name change I am pleased to announce the introduction of our website which is www.colebrookmanor.co.uk the website has all the information about the home, our services, location, etc.
The refurbishment of the home continues and some of our newly designed rooms are heading towards completion, we have a long way to go yet but the team continue to work hard. We are currently having a bar area installed in the home in one of the communal area's, this will be a place for residents and visitors to relax and unwind, check out the link below to see it taking shape.

We are very excited to say that the day club centre will soon be launched, there are a few minor details that are being arranged and then we will be able to properly launch it. The club will offer morning, afternoon or full day packages including beauty treatments, games, lunch visits, entertainment; to name but a few.
All the staff here continue to work hard and remain a dedicated team, in a busy ever changing environment the one thing that remains the same is the high level of professional care that is provided and the standards maintained. The final new change since my last blog is that our new home manager has now started, it is the start of his second week and he appears to be settling in comfortably.
Carl Francis is a qualified nurse and has over twenty years experience working in the care industry, he has previously managed a care home in Exmouth and brings to Colebrook Manor a wide and extensive knowledge base.

The renewel of Revelstoke Lodge, soon to be Colebrook Manor
At present we are Revelstoke lodge and have been for many years, we are in the process of changing our name to Colebrook Manor and are just awaiting for the go ahead from the CQC to move forward wit this planned name change. The renaming is just a small part of our planned developments for the future. We are in an exciting phase at the moment with lots going on in the home and behind the scenes.
I shall start with a brief history about the home, in the past it was previously run by Southern cross, following on from that Four seasons took the helm and we are now owned by BlueMar Ltd. The home itself has seen many changes in the past of ownership, management and staff. It pleases me as a member of staff to say our future looks more certain and there are exciting times ahead.
We are now owned by a small company called Blue mar limited, they own and run this home and our sister home located in Tamworth which is called Haunton Hall https://www.facebook.com/hauntonhallcarehome?fref=ts . At one point the future of Revelstoke was very uncertain and we are now able to look to a very bright and positive future.
We are in the process of developing the home and its services, with the view to providing top class affordable luxury care. We are striving to provide an environment that promotes independence, creates a peaceful, relaxing, stable place of stay and encourages a happy communal environment.
With the development of our day club centre which will provide daily activities for the local community and beyond we plan to provide a holistic place to stay, visit and engage with the care services anyone may require.
Whilst the refurbishments to the rooms takes place we are still an active care home, the work is being carried out as sensitively as possible and does not effect the daily working of the home. We have a planned event on the 20th of June as part of the national care home open day, we are holding a tea party at 2.30pm and would love as many visitors as possible to see the home in action and take a look at our newly decorated bedrooms.
We have a facebook page which is https://www.facebook.com/colebrookmanorcarehome so please take a look we also have a twitter page which is https://twitter.com/colebrookmanor
If anyone has any queries please contact 01752 343001 and ask for Kathy or Danielle

Exciting developments
So we are into the first week in June, does that officially mean summer is on its way? We at Colebrook Manor hope so. Long sunny days with lots to do.
This week has been an exciting one so far, we are delighted that the first section of the refurbishments are nearly finished, as I type this the flooring is being laid in the last couple bedrooms of the first section. We cant wait to show it off to people. It really does look first class and everyone should be proud of their hard work.
The finishing and presentation of the first section will fall inline with a big event we are organising linked with the national care home open day.
http://www.nationalcarehomeopenday.org.uk/home/revelstoke-lodge-care-centre. This falls on the 20th June and will see us opening our doors and inviting people in to have a look around, see what we have to offer and spend some time with us. It will be very exciting to show off the new rooms and tell people about the day club centre we are developing, and letting people know our positive plans for the future.
The day to day life of Colebrook Manor still runs smooth, and everyone involved is giving all they can to achieve a top class service. Now its back to the planning for the open day.

Colebrook Manors first blog
Hi
This is my first blog, so a bit nervous of writing it.
My name is Danielle I have worked here for the past two years. When I first came here we were Revelstoke Lodge, But soon we will be Colebrook Manor. I have had a varied role career here so far, firstly starting as the activity coordinator then moving into the care team. Currently I am completing some market research and working on the marketing side of the home. I am very excited about this position and am learning a lot doing this new role.
Along side my role developing the home itself is also undergoing some very exciting changes and developments, the home has had some uncertain times but since Blue Mar have taken over we appear to have a very steady future ahead of us.
I am currently researching for the future of the home, trying to find out what services are needed and if there is anything specialist we can provide for our future residents. We aim to be a top class provider, providing affordable luxury care. I am trying to create links with outside services to ensure they are aware of our service and the new developments we are undertaking.
The second floor is currently having the bulk of the redevelopments with the new en suite wet rooms being completed and the lay out being reconfigured. We are having all new facilities installed, and I'd like to say it all looks very impressive. The building is finally having the input it has needed for a long time.
The team I work alongside are dedicated group, who have all been through a lot of changes and uncertain times with me. I feel they are all committed to the future of the home and working hard to achieve this.
I shall end my first blog here.
